Rehearsal Report 12

Yesterday's rehearsal, in the bar for the first time, was largely dominated by work on what are arguably H&M's two biggest scenes.

It's The Civil Partnership of the Year?

The first thing we did was to go through the speeches delivered at the beginning of the wedding reception - and hence of the play - but I turned the cast 180 degrees so as to give the speakers an audience. It will be important for this scene to involve the real punters and set the tone for the feeling of involvement we want to create here, to generate some real rapport.

We then moved on to the play's pivotal moment and practised the scene with the music which constitutes the first dance for the first time. We had considered something traditional - or at least conventional - but as you'll hopefully find out, not much is conventional when Jack is around! Ben (Dan) was away so I stepped in to the Groom's shoes. Elsewhere, Jack and TLPA took on various roles too.

On The Hunt

After a little work on the ending, it wasn't long until our wardrobe master arrived and whisked the ladies away to find some of their outfits. With the Bride's and Bridesmaid's dresses sorted, just like props, costumes aren't something I've thought too much about so I'm glad for all the help(!) And whilst we'd imagined the cast wearing a lot of their own clothes it wasn't long until wardrobe had been plundered and several items of treasure had been duly found.

Looking good.
